Zambia's President Ordered Eviction of 200 Monkeys
Zambia’s President has ordered the eviction of a group of about 200 monkeys from the State House. This follows an incident during a news conference when a monkey urinated on him.
At the time, President Rupiah Banda, made light of the incident suggesting he would give the monkey to the opposition leader. He also suggested that it could be a good luck omen.
But now Mr. Banda has asked for the animal, to be relocated to parkland outside the Capital, Lusaka. About 61 monkeys have already been moved to the Munda Wanga Botanical Gardens land. An official says there were humanely captured and translocated to the gardens.
Sources say there are also many species of antelopes and birds in the State House grounds.
