Illinois makes the right changes when it comes to a new law regarding Primates
Dangerous Animals Act: In February 2009 Charla Nash was disfigured in Stamford, Conn. by her friend's pet chimpanzee, Travis. House Bill 4801 prohibits people from "keeping, harboring, caring for, acting as custodian of or maintaining in his or her possession any primate ... ." The law makes exceptions for zoos, circuses and other licensed facilities. The law also grandfathers in people who already owned primates, but requires them to contact their local animal control administrators by April.
